Romy Dankner, Owner and Creative Director of Homeroom Studio, has struck the perfect balance of functionality and style with her inspiring redesign of popular Australian sports performance apparel JAGGAD’s Brighton headquarters.

Balance. Grow. Confidence. JAGGAD’s Creative Director, Michelle Greene used these words to describe JAGGAD at the beginning of their close design collaboration. A perfect balance of style and functionality has always been a core promise of JAGGAD, as well as Romy’s approach to interior design, which is why Michelle and Romy chose to work together to redesign their head office in Melbourne’s beachy Brighton.

I met with Michelle and the team multiple times and I always walked away feeling inspired by their passion, creativity and dedication – they embrace their customers and motivate them to be the best they can be every day. I wanted their new JAGGAD home to do the same for them, and be a place they were proud of that would encourage them to work smarter and better,” says Romy. “I knew the space had to represent JAGGAD’s spirit - beautiful, clean, strong – and that resulted in the monochrome colour palette of blacks, whites and tans, and the lineal feel.” Says Romy.

Michelle and Romy were on the same page when it came to furnishing the office. Popular Melbourne homewares brand GlobeWest was tapped by Romy to supply all the furniture, a brand not usually associated with office fit outs. “ The JAGGAD office is really a second home for the team – they work there of course, but they also laugh, share meals and swap weekend stories as they go about their day. Michelle and I agreed that the team needed to feel at home in all the spaces – only then could they do their best work,” notes Romy.

“Offices aren’t as commercial as they used to be, and so using residential furniture and products makes a lot of sense.” “I used strong organic lines and textures, like wooden floorboards on the walls in the meeting and show rooms and the metal neon sign in the entrance area, but added softer touches, like the black flowers and bright green plants to balance the space and give it a subtle feminine feel,” says Romy.

“Our new JAGGAD office certainly has a homey feel, and it’s a beautiful space,” enthuses Greene. “Our staff love it – we all do – and it represents everything we love about our brand. We can’t thank Romy enough – she’s done a fantastic job.
