My top tips - 'how to throw a garden party like a boss!'

Summer is the celebration season... and if there's a time to throw yourself a garden party, it's now! The sun is out, the grass is green, the drinks are flowing and the food is delicious - so all you need are the perfect tips to bring it all together!

1 - Location

...if you have a deck, courtyard, terrace, grassy backyard or if you are lucky enough to have a country abode, you're ready to go... and if not find a park, community garden or ask a friend if you can borrow their space! Pick the perfect spot out of the wind, with a picturesque backdrop and a cosy feel.

2 - Set the Scene

...choose your colour palette and use that throughout your setting, think soft pastels, green and white or bold and bright. Add pops of these colours into your flowers, table settings, decorations and even your drinks!

3 - Add touches of personality

...like the pictures below, try adding a fun touch with fresh flowers in unexpected places like ice blocks, hang flowers or decorations from above your table, make cocktails that match your colours or make a flower crowns for each of your guests (keep that last one for a small party!).

4 - Furniture

...if you already have great outdoor furniture you are one step closer to completing your party! If you don't, try your luck at an Op Shop for some vintage pieces, borrow from friends or make a low table from a piece of board on some bricks and cover it with some gorgeous linen and add some rugs and cushions.. this last option creates a sense of intimacy and is super on trend!

5 - Place cards and invitations

...these add a personalised touch which will be appreciated, I promise! For the invitation there are so many great places online where you can make customised e-vites, try Paperless Post, they are my favourite! Again if you are feeling crafty or want to go that extra mile, a handwritten invite will always be a winner.

6 - Create spaces

...on top of your main seating area, try and create one or two pockets that encourage cosy and intimate chats. Huddle some chairs around a fire pit, make a pile of cushions on top of a gorgeous blanket or group some stools around a nice table, spots where people can break away from the crowd.

7 - Dedicated Bar

...it's not always possible but creating a dedicated bar or cocktail station is a great way to get guests up, moving and mingling... and of course it looks super pretty too! Deck it out with the colours, flowers and doecartinos from your theme and add a 'make your own cocktail' section for everyone to have a bit of fun... more is always more with drinks!
