Top Tips to create a modern Australian Christmas Table - with Ecology
December is here and we all know that means Christmas will be here in the blink of an eye! And what better way to get into the festive spirit than to plan your Christmas Table setting!
There are so many beautiful ways to decorate your table, but our favourite for this year? A relaxed Australiana theme of course! It’s natural, neutral, relaxed, works inside and out and it won’t cost you a fortune as you may already have most it at home!
To help you on your way we have created our own Christmas Table with help from Ecology Homewares. Their range of tableware, serving ware and glassware is the perfect addition to your Christmas and we just love the delicious soft eucalyptus tones of the Matcha Collection as you can see below.
Our TOP 5 TIPS for creating a stellar Christmas Table are below…
1 - Load up on greenery
Fresh greenery makes such an impact on a table setting and it won’t break the bank! It’s also a lovely gift for your guests to take home with them at the end of the day. So head out into your garden and see what you can find, and you can always add to that with a trip to the market or florist. Use the greenery as a table runner, a sprig for placemats, pop them in vases, wrap them around serviettes, the list is endless and the more the merrier!
2 - Go Native
Layer your table with fresh native foliage - and what’s even better is you may already have it in your backyard (or your neighbours!). Use a bed of green eucalyptus leaves and add in pops of colour with wattle and proteas and if you are going all out why not throw in some gum nuts for a true Australiana vibe.
3 - Mismatched table wear
The chances of having a full set of matching dinnerware for each and every one of your guests is slim to none - so embrace the mismatch! To keep the overall look consistent stick to one theme, for example an overall colour palette - opt for neutrals or shades of green and blue. Another way to bring the look together is to layer timber throughout the table - use serving boards, serving bowls, salad servers, coasters and Christmas decor in all shades of timber for a cohesive feel.
4 - A festive pop
Tinsel is definitely not appearing on this Christmas table but it’s fun to be festive and everyone has their own level of Christmas Cheer! A great way to add a festive touch is to remove the hanging strings from your favourite Christmas tree decorations and lay them on the table or a guests plate for that special touch… and the bonus? It won’t cost you a thing!
5 - Let is sparkle
We all know that Christmas isn’t complete without at least a little sparkle. To keep with the paired back feel of our Christmas Table we’ve used copper string fairy lights entwined with the leaves in the centre of the table, this adds a hint of glittery goodness but still works in with our relaxed vibe.
